The project involved the installation of four Zappi EV chargers on pedestals in the staff car park, providing reliable charging access for REMA TIP TOP’s EV fleet. The system was also set up to support smarter energy use, with solar optimisation using the site’s excess solar supply and app-based monitoring configured on staff phones.
The Challenge
As REMA TIP TOP updated its fleet to electric vehicles, the business required a practical and future-ready EV charging solution that could support day-to-day fleet operations.
The project required:
- Four dedicated EV chargers for staff and fleet vehicle use
- Pedestal-mounted chargers in the staff car park
- Dedicated EV charger circuits
- Cable trenching from the car park to the main office building
- Solar optimisation using the site’s excess solar energy
- Smart monitoring and usage tracking through mobile app setup
- Safe testing, commissioning and energising of the system
The goal was to create a reliable commercial EV charging setup that could support fast charging, reduce reliance on grid power and help the business make better use of its existing solar supply.
Our Solution
Voltaic Electrical managed the commercial EV charger installation from site preparation through to final commissioning.
Our scope of work included:
- Concrete base preparation and pouring
- Mounting of EV charger pedestals
- Installation of four Zappi EV chargers
- Installation of dedicated EV charger circuits
- Trenching and cable installation from the car park to the main office building, approximately 50 metres away
- Installation of CT clamps for smart solar optimisation
- Configuration of smart app access for monitoring and usage
- Final testing, commissioning and energising of the EV charging system
The Zappi EV chargers were installed to support efficient fleet charging while allowing REMA TIP TOP to take advantage of excess solar energy generated on site.
Every stage of the installation was completed with careful planning, safe workmanship and attention to the requirements of a commercial operating environment.
